Resumen El objetivo del estudio fue determinar los efectos sobre los hábitos alimentarios de escolares en una intervención educativa alternativa al modelo convencional de promoción de alimentación a un centro con comedor y proyecto de huerto ecológico. Estudio observacional descriptivo de corte transversal y comparativo de 111 niños y niñas entre 9 y 12 años, en el periodo 2013-15. Se comparó un colegio con intervención alternativa con otro que únicamente incluía contenidos propios del currículo de Educación Infantil y Primaria, mediante evaluación de adherencia a la dieta mediterránea del alumnado con cuestionario validado Kidmed. El centro de intervención presentó mayor adherencia a la dieta mediterránea que el centro control. En el centro de intervención el porcentaje de alumnado con dieta óptima (64,52%) fue mayor que los que necesitaban mejorar su dieta (33,87%), mientras que en el centro fue inferior (42,86% y 51,02% respectivamente). Los escolares del centro de intervención presentaron mayor porcentaje de respuestas afirmativas en ítems Kidmed. El programa de promoción de alimentación saludable alternativo del centro de intervención podría ser efectivo para la adquisición de una dieta de mayor adherencia a la dieta mediterránea.


Abstract The objective of this study was to determine the effects on school feeding habits in an educational intervention alternative to the conventional model of feeding promotion to a center with school canteens and ecological garden project. Cross-sectional and comparative descriptive observational study of 111 boys and girls between 9 and 12 years old, in the 2013-15 period. A school with alternative intervention was compared with another one that only included contents of the Infant and Primary Education curriculum, by means of evaluation of adherence to the mediterranean diet of the students with a validated Kidmed questionnaire. The intervention center presented greater adherence to the mediterranean diet than the control center. In the intervention center, the percentage of students with optimal diet (64.52%) was higher than those who needed to improve their diet (33.87%), contrary to what occurs in control center (42.86% and 51.02% respectively). The students of the intervention center presented a higher percentage of affirmative answers in Kidmed test. The program of promotion of healthy alternative food of the intervention center could be effective for the acquisition of a diet of greater adherence to the mediterranean diet.

ABSTRACT

El ambiente obesogénico que se puede definir como la suma de las influencias que los entornos, las oportunidades, o circunstancias de la vida, tienen para promover obesidad en individuos o la sociedad. El objetivo de este trabajo es describir la prevalencia de sobrepeso y obesidad (SP/OB) y su relación con variables del micro-entorno obesogénico en la población de 18-64 años residentes en la ciudad de Elche (España). Para ello se ha realizado un estudio transversal, donde se recogen diversas variables con una muestra piloto de 150 participantes. Se ha calculado la prevalencia de SP/OB y sus correspondientes intervalos de confianza y para medir la relación entre variables se utilizó la prueba Chi-cuadrado. Entre los principales resultados destacan que el 52,0% de la población presenta SP/OB siendo mayor en varones (59,5%); ésta prevalencia se incrementa con la edad. Hay una mayor prevalencia en personas con bajo nivel educativo (60,7%), bajos ingresos (61,1%), y en las personas en desempleo (58,6%). Se observa una mayor prevalencia en las personas que duermen menos de 6 horas (62,5%), en personas sedentarias (66,7%), y en aquellas con bajo nivel de estrés (64,7%). También presentan mayor prevalencia aquellos que frecuentan restaurantes menos veces (58,3%), los que acuden a restaurantes de menú (70,3%) o de comida basura (57,1%), que utilizan máquinas expendedoras (61,9%) y aquellos que comen acompañados (56,5%). Existe una asociación estadísticamente significativa entre el SP/OB con la edad, situación laboral, nivel de estudios, tipo de restauración colectiva de preferencia y comer acompañado(AU)


The important role of the environmental and lifestyle factors in the prevalence of overweight and obesity, has been well established and constituting es the obesogenic environment. The aim of this study is to describe the prevalence of overweight and obesity and its relationship with the micro-obesogenic environment variables in the population of 18-64 years from Elche city (Spain). We have designed a cross-sectional study, which includes several variables and the pilot sample was composed of 150 participants. The prevalence of overweight and obesity and its corresponding confidence intervals has been calculated. In order to establish relationships between variables the chi-square test was used. Among the main results, the prevalence of overweight and obesity is was 52,0%, being greater in males (59,5%) and increased with age. According to socioeconomic variables, there is a higher prevalence in people with a low educational level (60,7%) and a low income (61,1%). Also a higher prevalence in people who sleep less than 6 hours (62,5%), in sedentary people (66,7%) and those with low levels of stress (64,7%). Regarding the micro-environment, a higher prevalence of overweight and obesity in people who visit restaurants occasionally (58,3%), those who frequently follow restaurant menues (70,3%) or fast-food restaurants (57,1%), who use vending machines (61,9%) and those who eat accompanied by other people (56,5%). There is a statistically significant association between overweight and obesity with age, work status, level of studies, type of catering preference and eating accompanied by people(AU)

ABSTRACT

Trachoma currently represents one of the three main causes of ‘avoidable' blindness and reaches intolerable dimensions in many developing countries. It was endemic in many regions of eastern Spain until well into the twentieth century. The aim of this paper is to analyze the epidemiological development of this disease in contemporary Spain; to examine its determining factors, particularly environmental and sanitary/health factors, and, finally, to study the health care, environmental and socio-economic measures that led to its control and eradication. We believe that the historical approach not only highlights the role of environmental factors in the development of trachoma, but may also aid in understanding the current epidemiology of trachoma.


O tracoma representa hoje uma das três principais causas de cegueira ‘evitável' e tem alcance inaceitável em muitos países em desenvolvimento. Era doença endêmica em muitas regiões da Espanha oriental século XX adentro. O objetivo do presente artigo é analisar o desenvolvimento epidemiológico da doença na Espanha contemporânea; examinar seus fatores determinantes, especialmente os ambientais e sanitários, e, finalmente, estudar as medidas de assistência médica, socioeconômicas e ambientais que levaram a seu controle e erradicação. Acredita-se que a abordagem histórica revela a importância dos fatores ambientais no desenvolvimento do tracoma e ajuda a compreender o perfil epidemiológico atual da doença.

ABSTRACT

We present an experience in Nursing Education, accredited and implemented under the Spanish University System Reform in a Public University (Jaume I, Castellón) which had no previous nursing studies. The academics offered included all three educational levels (Bachelor, Master's and Doctorate), with an integrated theoretical-practical-clinical teaching methodology for the Bachelor Degree, competence acquisition in research in the Master's degree, and a doctorate formed by lines of research in the field of Nursing. Studies are accredited by the National Agency for Quality Assessment, which were authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Education and implanted between 2009 and 2011.


Se presenta una experiencia de Educación en Enfermería acreditada e implantada al amparo de la Reforma del Sistema Universitario Español, en una Universidad pública (Jaume I, Castellón) que no tenía los estudios de Enfermería previos. La oferta académica incluye los tres niveles formativos Grado, Máster y Doctorado, con una metodología docente integrada teórico-práctico-clínica en el nivel Grado, por adquisición de competencias en investigación en nivel Máster y un Doctorado, formados por líneas de investigación del ámbito de la Enfermería. Los estudios se acreditaron por la Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad, los cuales fueron autorizados por el Ministerio de Educación Español y se implantaron entre los años 2009 y 2011.


Se apresenta uma experiência de Educação em Enfermagem credenciada e implantada ao amparo da Reforma do Sistema Universitário Espanhol, numa Universidade pública (Jaume I, Castellón) que não tinha os estudos de Enfermagem prévios. A oferta acadêmica inclui os três níveis formativos Graduação, Mestrado e Doutorado, com uma metodologia docente integrada teórico-prático-clínica no nível Graduação, por aquisição de concorrências em investigação em nível Mestrado e um Doutorado formado por linhas de investigação do âmbito da Enfermagem. Os estudos se credenciaram pela Agência Nacional de Avaliação da Qualidade, foram autorizados pelo Ministério de Educação Espanhol e se implantaram entre os anos 2009 e 2011.

ABSTRACT

El trabajo analiza la incorporación de medios tecnológicos, en particular la radio, en el proceso de divulgación del conocimiento sobre la salud infantil durante la Segunda República española. En el marco de la campaña sanitaria contra la mortalidad infantil que puso en marcha la Segunda República en la década del 30, la Asociación Española de Médicos Puericultores Titulados, en colaboración con Unión Radio, organizó dos ciclos de conferencias radiofónicas que pretendían explicar, a través de un discurso divulgativo de tono descriptivo dirigido a las clases populares, las nociones fundamentales de la higiene y la alimentación infantil, e impulsar una cultura de la prevención, guiada y orientada por los dictados de los expertos. Se trataba de una acción de propaganda y divulgación que tenía su continuidad en el medio familiar y comunitario a través de la actuación de las enfermeras visitadoras puericultoras, contemplando a las madres como población diana.


This study analyses the incorporation of technological communications media, in particular the radio, as a way of popularizing knowledge about child health in the Second Spanish Republic. As part of the health campaign to fight infant mortality launched by the Second Republic in 1930s, the Spanish Association of Pediatricians collaborated with Unión Radio to produce two series of radio conferences aimed at explaining in a descriptive tone the basics of child nutrition and hygiene to the working classes. The intention was to foment a culture of prevention led and guided by child health care experts. This communication campaign was given continuity in the home and in the community through the activity of visiting childcare nurses, with mothers as the target population of these interventions.
